About this training

"Do you know the quality policy — and what does it mean for your work?" The auditor asks this question in every company certified to ISO 9001, and it is addressed not to management but to the employees in the workshop, office, warehouse and field service. Clause 7.3 of ISO 9001 requires that all persons under the company's control are aware of the quality policy, the quality objectives relevant to them, their own contribution to the QM system and the implications of errors. Without a demonstrable instruction, a nonconformity looms in the audit.

This free online instruction is the English-language edition of our German course, written for employees in Germany who do not read German; the German edition is the authoritative version. It conveys exactly this knowledge in everyday language and without prior QM knowledge: what ISO 9001 is and what a certificate says, the seven principles of quality management, quality policy and quality objectives, your own contribution and the implications of errors, customer focus, processes and work instructions, handling documents and records, reporting errors with correction and corrective action — and what to do when the auditor asks. Status 2026: ISO 9001:2015 with amendment 2024, with an outlook on the revision ISO 9001:2026. 17 modules, a worked case study, 27 questions, certificate of participation with a verifiable number and the complete list of topics.

What this course covers — and what it does not: The course provides the general part of the awareness instruction under ISO 9001 clause 7.3, with a record of contents, date and result. It does not provide the company-specific part — the quality policy and quality objectives of your company, who the quality management representative is, where the valid documents are and how errors and complaints are reported, only your company knows; that is what the module "Procedure in our company" is for. It is not a training for quality management representatives, not an introduction to the changes of the revision ISO 9001:2026 for professionals and no qualification as an internal auditor. It replaces neither the internal audit nor the management review. This is a translation of the German course — in case of doubt the German edition applies.

Frequently asked questions

Why must employees be instructed on ISO 9001?

Clause 7.3 of ISO 9001 requires that all persons under the company's control know the quality policy, the relevant objectives, their own contribution and the implications of errors. The auditor checks this in conversation at the workplace; a documented instruction is the cleanest evidence.

Is the course really free?

Yes. No registration, no payment details, no trial period. You only enter your e-mail address so that the certificate can be delivered.

Which edition does the course follow?

The course is a translation of our German course "ISO 9001 – Unterweisung für Mitarbeitende" with the same content and the same certificate; in case of doubt the German edition applies. It is written for employees in Germany who do not read German, and refers to the German editions (DIN EN ISO 9001) and the German accreditation body where relevant.

How often should the instruction be repeated?

The standard names no fixed interval. What has proven itself is an instruction when hired, an annual refresher and an additional instruction on a change of job or a changed quality policy.

Is the course suitable for employees without prior knowledge?

Yes. It requires no QM knowledge and explains everything in everyday language, with examples from production, office and services.

Does the course already take ISO 9001:2026 into account?

As an outlook: little changes for employees; in the edition published on 16 Sep 2026, clause 7.3 is extended by quality culture and ethical behaviour. Certificates to the 2015 edition remain valid during the transition period, until 30 Sep 2029 at the latest.

What is on the certificate?

Name, course, date, result, the complete list of the 17 training contents, the standard basis with the note on the company-specific part, and a certificate number that can be verified on the Academy's verification page.
